andwabisabi is your one stop shop!

It's a crafter's dream shop filled with delightfully 
whimsical and animated cross stitch designs. 

The talented creator of this shop is name Grace 
and she is giving away 7 of her ubber cute 
cross stitch patterns from her Animals and
Insects section!

I was able to interview Grace for this special 

giveaway and learn how she got started with
her Etsy shop.

 

Here is a little insight into her creative

process, ideas, and inspirations for the many 

designs in her Etsy shop. 

Interview with andwabisabi

~✿~

1. When did you start creating or felt inspired to do so?

I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember. I've

always wanted to work in the art/design field and I am 

now putting that dream into reality. Andwabisabi came 

to realization in 2008. I had been cross-stitching for 

several years and I thought to myself, “why not create 

my own patterns?” Using my background in Illustration, 

I started creating simple and fresh cross-stitch patterns, 

especially suitable for beginners. I wanted to break the 

misconception that cross-stitching is just an elderly craft- 

cross-stitching is for everyone!

2. How do you start your designs or what sparks 

your artistic ideas?

I am inspired by the conversations I share with my 

close friends, and of course, nature! I pick up ideas 

from daily life and realize them in cross-stitch. I have 

a to-do design list, so whenever I get inspired, I jot 

down the idea in my notebook- that way I don’t lose 

or forget my ideas.Though, I must say, some of my 

designs are spontaneously born- I just jump right 

into a project and experiment. It’s a great way 

to get the ball running and a lot of fun!

 3. What do you love about creating things with 

your own hands?

I would have to say I love the joy that comes 

with the completion of a project. Picking out 

the fabric, choosing thread colors and then 

watching the little stitches appear and become 

a finished project is so thrilling! I do a happy 

dance every time!

When you make something with your own 

hands, the customization is endless, you can 

continuously work on the project to make it 

“just right”.

4. What learning lessons do you have to share with 

other artists?

One of the lessons I’ve learned is keeping a notepad 

handy at all times. You never know when you’ll be 

inspired and come up with a genius idea. Sometimes 

we’re not in the luxury to start creating at any given 

moment. Always jot that idea down with plenty of 

side notes so that when it comes time to create, 

you’ll know exactly what you envisioned.

And of course, keep doing what you love! 

Do take in constructive criticism, but don’t let 

the opinions of others bring you down. We 

can’t satisfy everyone, but if you keep doing 

what you love, the passion and energy will be 

seen and felt, and you’ll soon discover 

your niche. Perseverance is key~
